WHAT'S ETHNO?

Ethno is a platform to build respect and tolerance, to preserve cultural heritage and to ensure that traditional, popular and world music lives among young people and is transmitted from generation to generation. It broadens and deepens the relationships between musicians and cultures around the world, allowing participants to build a greater mutual appreciation of their respective cultures through music. Ethno uses music as a powerful tool to combat xenophobia, intolerance and racism.

Jeunesses Musicales International (JMI)

It is the largest non-profit organization in the world that helps young people through music. JMI manages over 40,000 different musical activities per year reaching more than 5,000,000 young people from around 80 countries. From festivals to competitions, from workshops to school concerts, from masterclasses to jam sessions, JMI covers the entire music landscape embracing all styles and genres. JMI uses the universal power of music as a tool for empowerment and transformation, seeking to make the world a better place for everyone. For us it is a real honor and pride to be able to bring Ethno Camp to Switzerland for the first time.

The second Ethno Switzerland will take place in the beautiful village of Roveredo GR in the Italian speaking part of Switzerland. We are offering a week of rehearsals and workshops where you will share and learn traditional music with musicians from all around the world and with artistic mentors who will guide you smoothly through the experience of peer to peer teaching by ear. At the end of the week you will be able to present a concert during the Grin Festival (23rd of June till 25th of June) and of course you can also stay and attend the Grin Festival until the end. This is also a chance to visit our beautiful Alps and nature in Ticino and Grigioni, swim in the rivers or visiting medieval castles in Bellinzona.
